And I do not want to be a rose.
I do not wish to be pale pink, but flower scarlet, flower gold.

About Carrie

My name is Carrie Sheaffer. I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer to the Ukraine; I landed here in September 2004, and here I stay until December 2006. My site is a small town called Chernomorskoe, in Crimea. (Alternately spelled in a variety of ways, such as Chornomors'ke and Chernomoskoye. It means Black Sea.) I'm a TEFL Volunteer, and I teach English at the local elementary/high school.

Before joining the Peace Corps, I worked as a Technical Writer in the Silicon Valley software industry for about 5 years, after I graduated college. (Unfortunately, I just missed the Glory Days, when people made tons of money.) In case you're wondering, I went to school at the University of Colorado, Boulder. I was a double major, English and Spanish. The English has been moderately useful, but the Spanish is slowly slipping away. In fact, now that I've been learning Russian, the Spanish is almost forgotten, although of course it would probably come back if I had any opportunity to speak it.

This is what I looked like in July of 2005, after major hair changes that included bangs!

I think it's only fair to let any strangers who end up on this site know what I look like. After all, I'm making you read all about me. It's nice to have a mental picture.

If you want more of a sense of who I am, read FAQ the First, FAQ the Second, FAQ the Thirdand FAQ the Current. (Plus, I think they're fun to read. But then, I wrote them. I'm a little biased.)
